Family Violence Mindset Solutions is about “Unlocking the why behind family violence and creating effective strategies for change.”
Behind every repetitive behavioural choice, there is the belief that the chosen behaviour is serving us on some level – that it’s working! In the case of family violence, the behavioural choices are not sustainable, because they serve only the perpetrator and never the victims of their abuse.
By exposing and explaining the mindset behind family violence and resolving the thinking that has caused the problematic behavioural choices, the goal is to:
- Alter the strategic interventions used with survivors of family violence, so that the women and children do not have to return to an environment of abuse.
- Expose the perceived benefits of violent behaviour for perpetrators and offer constructive and sustainable alternative behavioural choices.

“My mother was diagnosed with Dementia in 2007 at just 55 years of age, and due to her caring requirements, my siblings and I made a decision to place her in a nursing home where we believed she would be well cared for.
“However, whilst this move would mean that my mother would be well cared for, it affected me on a personal level. I experienced mixed feelings of loss, pain, guilt and confusion (including undealt ‘issues’ surrounding my past: childhood and adult – relationship with my mother – prior to her becoming ill) about the situation in which I had been ‘dealt’, and wondered if it was something that I would ever be able to work through.
“My sessions with Di have helped me tremendously to develop strength and confidence in myself, and in the situation that life has presented me with. From this, I have been able to embrace the situation and have moved into a space where I am now building a positive relationship with my mother, and more importantly myself in this new phase of my life.
“To Di – I thank you very much for your support through this difficult time. You have helped me work through one of the most challenging situations in which I have encountered in my life. Most importantly, you have given me a GIFT – that has empowered me – to recognize the strengths in which I have within myself, that I can draw on to overcome life’s challenges both today, and for the future.”
